Corn Shocks?

There is a hand made sign on the street where we live that says "Corn Shocks For Sale". Everytime we pass it we look at each other and wonder what corn shocks are. We thought of a corn shuck or corn stalks and just thought that the person that wrote the sign wasn't very smart. We finally Googled it and it truly is a term for corn stalks that have been bound together. Guess we weren't as smart as we thought we were.
